Positive Experiences
“This is my 3rd year with Constellation and I am still a very happy customer. I don’t mind locking in the rate with them – probably the lowest one out there and the service is amazing. I love their customer service too. Can’t tell you how happy I am now!”
“Exactly what is needed in these high cost market structures – I highly recommend 100%! My family and I have been blessed via formerly BGE Home, now named Constellation, for a very long time. Through the name changing and branding, the service has improved. Being profoundly trained in the service industry, I truly appreciate the professionalism and care that each representative has demonstrated. What’s best about this company is that they are timely and reliable!”
“From the day I became a Constellation customer I’ve received nothing but excellent service and outstanding customer service. Constellation is reputable when it comes to promising lower electricity bills, and they are honorable with maintaining customer rewards, perks, and referral bonuses. I highly recommend Constellation!”
“I like Constellation because every time I have a solar salesman or another electricity provider knock on my door, I can just show them how much I’m paying for electricity, and they just scratch their heads. My electric bill is one of my smaller ones.”
“I’ve used Constellation at work and home. Great customer service and no surprise pricing. Can’t ask for more!”
Critical Feedback
“I am a Constellation customer for the last 8 years. I have renewed contracts multiple times with them. In 2024 a customer rep confirmed 13.9c all inclusive including CenterPoint delivery charges. Since I had been with them for 6 years before that, I never had any problems. After 2 years I looked at the bill and found the rate excessive. They had charged me 17c per KWH. It was a rude shock to me. I didn’t expect this from customer service handling accounts on behalf of Constellation.”
“I recently picked Constellation Energy from Power to Choose and signed up online. This was the worst sign-up experience I’ve ever had. They switched my energy on the spot without providing me the opportunity to select a future date, so be careful with that before you finalize the transaction. I called customer service and the person was in sales and very aggressive. I told him I wanted a six month plan and he was signing me up for a 36 month plan anyway.”

Our Methodology
How We Calculate NPS Scores
Our proprietary scoring system analyzes thousands of customer reviews to provide an unbiased assessment of each electricity provider.
- Data Source: Online Reviews from verified customers
- AI Analysis: We analyze each review to distill sentiment and filter out incentivized reviews, bot-generated content, and review bombing attempts
- True NPS Calculation: We calculate Net Promoter Score as (% Promoters) – (% Detractors), where Promoters rate 9-10 and Detractors rate 1-6
- Star Rating: NPS scores are mapped to a 3.0-5.0 star scale for intuitive comparison
About “Billing Clarity” Scores
This score measures how clearly a provider communicates billing to customers—not billing accuracy. Texas electricity providers have robust, audited billing systems that are highly accurate.
- What we measure: Clarity of bill statements, proactive notifications, explanation of credits and charges, time-of-use rate communication
- Why it matters: Customers often report confusion about bills even when charges are correct—this score reflects how well providers help customers understand their bills
- PUC “billing complaints”: Most are about confusing statements or unexpected (but legitimate) charges, not actual billing errors
Pricing Data Collection
We collect electricity plan pricing directly from official sources to ensure accuracy.
- Data Source: ComparePower, the original Texas electricity consumer advocate
- Update Frequency: Prices are synced daily from all 5 TDSP territories
- Usage Levels: We display pricing at 500, 1000, and 2000 kWh/month to show how rates vary by consumption
- Coverage: All 17 retail electricity providers in the Texas deregulated market
PUC Complaint Data
Complaint data provides insight into provider accountability and customer issues.
- Data Source: Texas Public Utility Commission (PUC) official complaint records
- History: 46+ months of historical complaint data (January 2022 – Present)
- Categories: Billing, Slamming/Cramming, Quality of Service, Disconnection, and Other
- Update Frequency: Monthly updates as new PUC data becomes available
