Positive Experiences
“I’ve been a 4Change Energy customer for a few years now, and I don’t imagine I’ll ever change providers. I LOVE 4Change Energy! They’re forever supporting local charities, changing lives with fair pricing, helping with ways to earn bill credits through referrals and fun contests, always providing usage updates, no surprise high bills, great customer service always, and easy to understand pricing and plans. They’ve earned my 5 stars!”
“I love 4Change Energy because their customer service is always so kind and helpful! When I called with a question, they were quick to answer and explained everything clearly. As a college student handling my own bills for the first time, it gives me great peace of mind to know I have a contract with a kind and reasonable company! I love the easy accessible app, usage reports that tell me the amount of usage in dollars, and that you can split payments with different cards.”
“I have had 4Change Energy for at least 5 years now. I have had fixed rate contracts with competitive rates. The company website is easy to use and understand. It gives you weekly and monthly usage details. Customer service has always been very reliable as well. My contract expires this year in November, and I plan to renew again. Thank you 4Change!”
“Had one of the best offers I could find for electricity providers. It was very easy to get ahold of a customer service agent even through the automated system. I really enjoy the direct draft from my checking so I don’t have to worry about paying on time. In addition, they always send updates on my usage and what my bill will be so there’s no surprises.”
“Great Company & Great Mission! I’ve really enjoyed my experience with 4Change Energy. Their customer service has been great, but what really stands out to me is that they make giving back to the community one of their priorities. Knowing that a portion of what I’m paying can help support charities and important causes makes me feel even better about being a customer. It’s refreshing to see a company that not only provides a service but also makes an effort to make a positive difference.”
Critical Feedback
“Not at all happy with the plan. Monthly bill is very high even with the bill credit. However, stuck for 2 years. I was with Discount Power before I signed up for 4Change (without any fixed plan) and the bill was way less. This was my biggest mistake trusting you. App is not good as well.”
“I love 4Change Energy company. I never have any power outages. They have no leeway for late bills, though. So keep that in mind, but they are very inexpensive and reasonable rates. When I say no power outages, I mean no power outages ever.”

Our Methodology
How We Calculate NPS Scores
Our proprietary scoring system analyzes thousands of customer reviews to provide an unbiased assessment of each electricity provider.
- Data Source: Online Reviews from verified customers
- AI Analysis: We analyze each review to distill sentiment and filter out incentivized reviews, bot-generated content, and review bombing attempts
- True NPS Calculation: We calculate Net Promoter Score as (% Promoters) – (% Detractors), where Promoters rate 9-10 and Detractors rate 1-6
- Star Rating: NPS scores are mapped to a 3.0-5.0 star scale for intuitive comparison
About “Billing Clarity” Scores
This score measures how clearly a provider communicates billing to customers—not billing accuracy. Texas electricity providers have robust, audited billing systems that are highly accurate.
- What we measure: Clarity of bill statements, proactive notifications, explanation of credits and charges, time-of-use rate communication
- Why it matters: Customers often report confusion about bills even when charges are correct—this score reflects how well providers help customers understand their bills
- PUC “billing complaints”: Most are about confusing statements or unexpected (but legitimate) charges, not actual billing errors
Pricing Data Collection
We collect electricity plan pricing directly from official sources to ensure accuracy.
- Data Source: ComparePower, the original Texas electricity consumer advocate
- Update Frequency: Prices are synced daily from all 5 TDSP territories
- Usage Levels: We display pricing at 500, 1000, and 2000 kWh/month to show how rates vary by consumption
- Coverage: All 17 retail electricity providers in the Texas deregulated market
PUC Complaint Data
Complaint data provides insight into provider accountability and customer issues.
- Data Source: Texas Public Utility Commission (PUC) official complaint records
- History: 46+ months of historical complaint data (January 2022 – Present)
- Categories: Billing, Slamming/Cramming, Quality of Service, Disconnection, and Other
- Update Frequency: Monthly updates as new PUC data becomes available
