How we make money
We believe you have a right to know how we’re compensated. Here’s a straightforward explanation of our business model.
Our Business Model
2TurnItOn is a free resource for consumers. You never pay us anything to use our comparison tools, read our guides, or access our rate information. So how do we keep the lights on?
We earn money through affiliate partnerships with utility providers. When you click a link on our site and sign up for a plan, we may receive a commission from the provider. This is a standard practice in the comparison industry, and we want to be completely transparent about how it works.
Affiliate Relationships
Here’s what you need to know about our affiliate relationships:
How commissions work
Example: When you sign up for an electricity plan through a link on our site, the provider may pay us a referral fee. This fee comes from the provider’s marketing budget, not from your pocket. You pay the same price whether you sign up through us or go directly to the provider.
Which providers pay us
We have affiliate relationships with many (but not all) of the providers listed on our site. We display all providers available in the Texas market, including those we don’t have financial relationships with. A provider’s presence or ranking on our site is not determined by whether they pay us.
Commission rates vary
Different providers pay different commission rates. We do not factor commission rates into our rankings or recommendations. A plan that pays us more doesn’t get better placement or more favorable coverage.
Affiliate Commissions
We earn referral fees when you sign up for a plan through our site. The provider pays us, you pay the same price as going direct.
No Fees to Consumers
Using 2TurnItOn is completely free. We never charge you for our comparison tools, guides, or recommendations.
Editorial Independence
Our editorial team operates independently from our business relationships. Affiliate partnerships do not influence our rankings, ratings, or recommendations. We evaluate every provider using the same methodology, whether they pay us or not. Our writers and reviewers are never told which providers are affiliate partners, and compensation is never discussed in editorial meetings. When we recommend a plan, it’s because we believe it’s a good option for consumers, not because it pays us more.
ComparePower Licensing
2TurnItOn is operated by ComparePower, LLC, a licensed retail electric provider in Texas. We operate under PUC License #BR190020, which means we’re regulated by the Public Utility Commission of Texas and held to strict standards for consumer protection.
Our license requires us to follow Texas regulations for marketing and selling electricity plans. This includes accurate pricing disclosure, fair business practices, and proper handling of customer information.
Affiliate Disclosure
www.2turniton.com participates in affiliate marketing programs. We may receive compensation when you click links and complete a signup with partner providers. This compensation comes from the provider, not from you, and does not increase the price you pay. Our editorial content is created independently of affiliate relationships. Partners do not influence our ratings, rankings, or recommendations. ComparePower, LLC (PUC License #BR190020) is the parent company of 2TurnItOn.
