Positive Experiences
“I can’t say enough good things about 4Change Energy. For years, I struggled to find an electricity company that didn’t leave us with outrageous bills—often $300–$500 a month (even with ‘free nights’ plans). The moment we switched, everything changed. Our bills dropped to around $150 or less—and the craziest part? We didn’t change our lifestyle at all. Same usage, same home… just a company that actually charges fairly. It’s honestly such a relief to have an energy provider that doesn’t gouge customers.”
“A+ service provider! I have had them for the past year and just renewed for a 2nd year. Great plans to choose from, my electricity was up and running in under 24hrs when I first requested service. Very affordable too! They also have raffles for customers to get discounts on their bills!”
“So far, so good! We reviewed over 50 companies and plans before choosing 4Change Energy. For our usage history, their plans offered the best value of any company in our area of West Texas. Our current provider’s best deal was 60% more expensive than 4Change Energy. We are looking forward to continued savings.”
“Of all my bills, my electric bill with 4 Change Energy is one I don’t have to worry about. Rates are great and never a surprise bill I wasn’t expecting. I get alerts to inform me of my usage weekly.”
“My fiancé and I had a situation that needed to be rectified and the customer service was top notch. Very friendly, very knowledgeable and had my problem fixed in less than 10 minutes. 5/5.”
Critical Feedback
“I’ve been having a bad experience since the first month. My bill was extremely high; I spent most of my time outside home and for a one-bedroom apartment my bill was about $180 every month. I switched companies and the most I’m paying now is $90. Also, my information was filtered. A company contacted me on behalf of 4Change Energy saying my debt was sent to collections. When I contacted customer service, they reassured me I did not have any balance. Very concerning.”
“We switched just a couple of months ago from Reliant because they were offering better prices per kilowatt. We haven’t had the hottest time of the year yet and my second and third month are higher amounts than we ever had with Reliant. This month is almost $300 for a 1600 square foot house. Thinking of going back to Reliant.”
“I have been on the phone several minutes trying to get an explanation of these exorbitant fees on my bill this month and the person I’m speaking with cannot answer. I have asked for a supervisor no less than five times and he keeps placing me on hold. Do NOT sign up for service here. No one can explain a $300 jump in my bill.”

Our Methodology
How We Calculate NPS Scores
Our proprietary scoring system analyzes thousands of customer reviews to provide an unbiased assessment of each electricity provider.
- Data Source: Online Reviews from verified customers
- AI Analysis: We analyze each review to distill sentiment and filter out incentivized reviews, bot-generated content, and review bombing attempts
- True NPS Calculation: We calculate Net Promoter Score as (% Promoters) – (% Detractors), where Promoters rate 9-10 and Detractors rate 1-6
- Star Rating: NPS scores are mapped to a 3.0-5.0 star scale for intuitive comparison
About “Billing Clarity” Scores
This score measures how clearly a provider communicates billing to customers—not billing accuracy. Texas electricity providers have robust, audited billing systems that are highly accurate.
- What we measure: Clarity of bill statements, proactive notifications, explanation of credits and charges, time-of-use rate communication
- Why it matters: Customers often report confusion about bills even when charges are correct—this score reflects how well providers help customers understand their bills
- PUC “billing complaints”: Most are about confusing statements or unexpected (but legitimate) charges, not actual billing errors
Pricing Data Collection
We collect electricity plan pricing directly from official sources to ensure accuracy.
- Data Source: ComparePower, the original Texas electricity consumer advocate
- Update Frequency: Prices are synced daily from all 5 TDSP territories
- Usage Levels: We display pricing at 500, 1000, and 2000 kWh/month to show how rates vary by consumption
- Coverage: All 17 retail electricity providers in the Texas deregulated market
PUC Complaint Data
Complaint data provides insight into provider accountability and customer issues.
- Data Source: Texas Public Utility Commission (PUC) official complaint records
- History: 46+ months of historical complaint data (January 2022 – Present)
- Categories: Billing, Slamming/Cramming, Quality of Service, Disconnection, and Other
- Update Frequency: Monthly updates as new PUC data becomes available
