Positive Experiences
“I really love 4Change Energy. They’ve got some of the best rates and prices I’ve seen. I’ve been with them for about a year now and they’ve been super reliable the whole time. They always answer my questions quick and make sure everything’s taken care of. The auto-pay is great because my bill gets paid on time every month so I don’t have to keep checking or stressing about it. Their app is awesome too. It’s got this detailed graph that shows exactly how much energy I used each day and what times.”
“I enjoy being a 4Change Energy customer because the service has been reliable, the billing is easy to understand, and the rates have been affordable for my family. I appreciate having a company that helps keep my home powered while making the process simple and stress-free. Thank you for providing dependable service!”
“I’ve been with 4Change for 9 years so far and plan on extending my contract. Definitely has been affordable without any shockingly large bills. Easy online payment option and I love receiving the energy report. It helps me adjust accordingly for my upcoming bill.”
“I love it because it’s an easy company to switch to, with minimal requirements, no social security number needed… and most importantly, no deposit and low electricity bills. For me, it’s #1 in the Rio Grande Valley!”
“I’ve been with 4Change Energy for 7 years now and I’ve always had great service and great customer care. When talking with customer service in the past with any kind of problem that may have come up, or if I just had questions about my bill, customer service has always been pleasant and easy to talk to. I would refer anyone to use their company.”
Critical Feedback
“I’m not too happy with this electric company. My bill has never been more than $148 with just energy and with this company my bill is always like $200 to $300. Is there a program that I can look into since I’m 59 years old to where my bill isn’t so high? I live on a monthly basis where I don’t make or get a lot of money. Please let me know if I can get any kind of help.”
“I switched over to 4Change about a year ago and haven’t had any issues with the electricity itself. The website leaves a bit to be desired. Tried to update my payment info online and it wouldn’t update. I eventually had to call after several failed attempts online only to be told I had to pay cash as my payment didn’t go through. I tried to give the customer rep my updated info and he refused. This could have been avoided if the website worked properly.”
“My bill fluctuates so much I’m always scared to open my bill every month.”

Our Methodology
How We Calculate NPS Scores
Our proprietary scoring system analyzes thousands of customer reviews to provide an unbiased assessment of each electricity provider.
- Data Source: Online Reviews from verified customers
- AI Analysis: We analyze each review to distill sentiment and filter out incentivized reviews, bot-generated content, and review bombing attempts
- True NPS Calculation: We calculate Net Promoter Score as (% Promoters) – (% Detractors), where Promoters rate 9-10 and Detractors rate 1-6
- Star Rating: NPS scores are mapped to a 3.0-5.0 star scale for intuitive comparison
About “Billing Clarity” Scores
This score measures how clearly a provider communicates billing to customers—not billing accuracy. Texas electricity providers have robust, audited billing systems that are highly accurate.
- What we measure: Clarity of bill statements, proactive notifications, explanation of credits and charges, time-of-use rate communication
- Why it matters: Customers often report confusion about bills even when charges are correct—this score reflects how well providers help customers understand their bills
- PUC “billing complaints”: Most are about confusing statements or unexpected (but legitimate) charges, not actual billing errors
Pricing Data Collection
We collect electricity plan pricing directly from official sources to ensure accuracy.
- Data Source: ComparePower, the original Texas electricity consumer advocate
- Update Frequency: Prices are synced daily from all 5 TDSP territories
- Usage Levels: We display pricing at 500, 1000, and 2000 kWh/month to show how rates vary by consumption
- Coverage: All 17 retail electricity providers in the Texas deregulated market
PUC Complaint Data
Complaint data provides insight into provider accountability and customer issues.
- Data Source: Texas Public Utility Commission (PUC) official complaint records
- History: 46+ months of historical complaint data (January 2022 – Present)
- Categories: Billing, Slamming/Cramming, Quality of Service, Disconnection, and Other
- Update Frequency: Monthly updates as new PUC data becomes available
