Positive Experiences
“Really good experience while transferring my service to APG&E. Darinka was SUPER helpful and informative. This is my first time dealing with your customer service reps, but if this is the norm there, you guys are doing a GREAT job. She explained in detail how the service I was inquiring about worked, showed me how to monitor my usage and gave me sample bill amounts for different kWh usages. I think I made a good choice moving to your company.”
“Just switched to APG&E! My account situation was a bit complicated, at least for me, but APG&E made it super simple. The 3 different reps (Angel, Selena, & Emily) I spoke with on 2 different days were so kind and relatable. They all provided great customer service and really gave me a good feeling about this company overall. First impressions go a long way in my books! Also my contracted rates are amazing compared to what I had with my previous provider.”
“I had a great experience working with Luvi. She was extremely helpful and made everything easy to understand. She was able to help me reduce my utility bill by more than half, which saved me a significant amount of money. She was professional, knowledgeable, and made the entire process smooth and stress-free. I definitely recommend Luvi to anyone looking for someone who genuinely cares about helping their clients!”
“Doing a telephone inquiry, I spoke with Claudia who was able to assist me in finding a fixed rate for my apartment. She was able to provide a better price than what was online and assisted me in the signup process, making it quick, professional and efficient. Great customer service and a personal thank you to Claudia for assisting me.”
“I’ve had APG&E going on 3 years now and with all the choices for service out there to choose from, I would recommend going with APG&E because the charge for service per kWh is the best and most affordable compared to everyone else.”
Critical Feedback
“This provider does not have a proper mobile app and their web app is not syncing the usage schedule according to the Oncor bill generated date. Your projected usage will show high, but when the bill is generated it will come out to less units. If you have 1000 kWh usage credits, you may miss out because of this syncing issue. Please be cautious about this provider’s billing.”
“Customer service is rude and very insensitive. I get pulled in many different directions when calling about certain issues. I usually have to speak to SEVERAL different people just to get ONE issue heard. They were great at first but going into the second contract, I’m not sure if I’ll choose them again once it has expired.”
“Rating is 5 stars but NPS is 5 – Not sure why my 3 month contract was extended to 1 year and I now have a cancellation fee. After being transferred, the rep did a good job, but the contract issue is concerning.”
FINAL VERDICT
Our Recommendation
APGE: Recommended
Strong customer satisfaction with room for billing improvement
2TIO Star Rating earns our recommendation based on consistently strong performance across key metrics. With a 4.7/5.0 star rating and an impressive NPS score of 71, customers clearly express high satisfaction with their overall experience. The customer service score of 75/100 indicates responsive support when issues arise. On the regulatory front, 2TIO Star Rating logged just 61 PUC complaints over the past 12 months—roughly half the industry average of 120—demonstrating solid operational practices. However, the billing clarity score of 55/100 represents a notable weakness; customers may encounter confusion with invoices or rate structures. We recommend reviewing plan details carefully before signing. Overall, this provider delivers above-average service and maintains a clean regulatory record, making them a reliable choice for most Texas electricity customers who prioritize customer experience over billing simplicity.

Our Methodology
How We Calculate NPS Scores
Our proprietary scoring system analyzes thousands of customer reviews to provide an unbiased assessment of each electricity provider.
- Data Source: Online Reviews from verified customers
- AI Analysis: We analyze each review to distill sentiment and filter out incentivized reviews, bot-generated content, and review bombing attempts
- True NPS Calculation: We calculate Net Promoter Score as (% Promoters) – (% Detractors), where Promoters rate 9-10 and Detractors rate 1-6
- Star Rating: NPS scores are mapped to a 3.0-5.0 star scale for intuitive comparison
About “Billing Clarity” Scores
This score measures how clearly a provider communicates billing to customers—not billing accuracy. Texas electricity providers have robust, audited billing systems that are highly accurate.
- What we measure: Clarity of bill statements, proactive notifications, explanation of credits and charges, time-of-use rate communication
- Why it matters: Customers often report confusion about bills even when charges are correct—this score reflects how well providers help customers understand their bills
- PUC “billing complaints”: Most are about confusing statements or unexpected (but legitimate) charges, not actual billing errors
Pricing Data Collection
We collect electricity plan pricing directly from official sources to ensure accuracy.
- Data Source: ComparePower, the original Texas electricity consumer advocate
- Update Frequency: Prices are synced daily from all 5 TDSP territories
- Usage Levels: We display pricing at 500, 1000, and 2000 kWh/month to show how rates vary by consumption
- Coverage: All 17 retail electricity providers in the Texas deregulated market
PUC Complaint Data
Complaint data provides insight into provider accountability and customer issues.
- Data Source: Texas Public Utility Commission (PUC) official complaint records
- History: 46+ months of historical complaint data (January 2022 – Present)
- Categories: Billing, Slamming/Cramming, Quality of Service, Disconnection, and Other
- Update Frequency: Monthly updates as new PUC data becomes available
