PROVIDER REVIEW
Rhythm Energy Review 2026
Rhythm Energy launched in 2021 as a Houston-based startup focused on 100% renewable electricity plans. With a 4.8-star rating and a Net Promoter Score of 79, customer sentiment trends positive, particularly around the company’s policy of offering renewing customers the same rates as new sign-ups—a rarity in Texas. The provider’s regulatory record is also strong, with 57 PUC complaints over the past year, well below the industry average of 120. However, a Billing Clarity Score of 56 suggests some customers find their statements harder to interpret.
RHYTHM ENERGY
Complete Provider Analysis
Founded by energy industry veteran PJ Popovic, Rhythm has positioned itself as a tech-forward alternative in the Texas market. The company’s Customer Service Score of 78 reflects generally favorable interactions, though not without occasional friction. While Rhythm’s growth has been rapid—including its 2024 acquisition of Inspire Clean Energy for national expansion—prospective customers should weigh the strong satisfaction metrics against the moderate billing transparency feedback when evaluating their options.

Positive Experiences
“I have been with this company for 2 years and am renewing for my 3rd year. Rhythm always had the low pricing with the best energy. Just called in today to cancel because I found a cheaper company, but the representative named Rob offered me an even lower rate and I am so happy. Thank you Rob!”
“When researching new energy plans, I found Rhythm Energy. I immediately started comparing their rates to my existing plan along with other companies. Once I had a good apples to apples comparison, the decision was easy to switch to Rhythm. An extra bonus is the 100% renewable energy. This is so needed in our world today! I called Rhythm on the last day of my contract with my other company. Sergio was very kind in explaining details to me even though I had already researched everything.”
“Excellent customer service, with quick email responses. So far billing prices have been reasonable with the Digital Discount 12 plan.”
“We all know how difficult it’s been with electric companies for the past years. Well today I found Rhythm Energy and I was amazed. The enrollment process was quick. I was asked for my demographic information and D.O.B., did not require my social, no credit check plus no deposit. I scheduled services for today and within an hour I began receiving information from Rhythm Energy. They finished my enrollment online and set up my services seamlessly.”
“I was helped by Marysol. She was very patient and delightful when explaining and re-explaining my various plan options. Made the whole process easy to understand.”
Critical Feedback
“$205 a month for a 750 sq ft apartment. Please explain to me how this is possible. On the website it says 14c per kWh/1000kWh, but it didn’t say that they are not the provider—they are only the broker. So there is an additional charge from Oncor for sending electricity to your place. Before I signed up, I asked an agent on the phone for an estimate and he said the bill for a 750 sq ft apartment would be $70-80. And to terminate the contract, they charge you $20 per month for the remaining months.”
“This company charged me an early termination fee even though I requested a transfer to my new home address. Would give zero stars if I could. Stay away.”
“Didn’t tell me in full detail about the changes on the renewal of my new contract. I received 2 emails about my light bill for next month, which the representative didn’t explain well!”
FINAL VERDICT
Our Recommendation
Rhythm Energy: Recommended
Strong choice for tech-savvy green energy seekers
Rhythm Energy earns our recommendation as a modern, customer-focused electricity provider. Despite being founded just in 2021, this Goldman Sachs-backed startup has quickly established itself with impressive customer satisfaction metrics: a 4.8/5.0 star rating and a True NPS Score of 79, indicating strong customer loyalty. Their customer service score of 78/100 reflects responsive support, while their PUC complaint record of just 57 complaints over 12 months sits well below the industry average of 120. Our Methodology
How We Calculate NPS Scores
Our proprietary scoring system analyzes thousands of customer reviews to provide an unbiased assessment of each electricity provider.
- Data Source: Online Reviews from verified customers
- AI Analysis: We analyze each review to distill sentiment and filter out incentivized reviews, bot-generated content, and review bombing attempts
- True NPS Calculation: We calculate Net Promoter Score as (% Promoters) – (% Detractors), where Promoters rate 9-10 and Detractors rate 1-6
- Star Rating: NPS scores are mapped to a 3.0-5.0 star scale for intuitive comparison
About “Billing Clarity” Scores
This score measures how clearly a provider communicates billing to customers—not billing accuracy. Texas electricity providers have robust, audited billing systems that are highly accurate.
- What we measure: Clarity of bill statements, proactive notifications, explanation of credits and charges, time-of-use rate communication
- Why it matters: Customers often report confusion about bills even when charges are correct—this score reflects how well providers help customers understand their bills
- PUC “billing complaints”: Most are about confusing statements or unexpected (but legitimate) charges, not actual billing errors
Pricing Data Collection
We collect electricity plan pricing directly from official sources to ensure accuracy.
- Data Source: ComparePower, the original Texas electricity consumer advocate
- Update Frequency: Prices are synced daily from all 5 TDSP territories
- Usage Levels: We display pricing at 500, 1000, and 2000 kWh/month to show how rates vary by consumption
- Coverage: All 17 retail electricity providers in the Texas deregulated market
PUC Complaint Data
Complaint data provides insight into provider accountability and customer issues.
- Data Source: Texas Public Utility Commission (PUC) official complaint records
- History: 46+ months of historical complaint data (January 2022 – Present)
- Categories: Billing, Slamming/Cramming, Quality of Service, Disconnection, and Other
- Update Frequency: Monthly updates as new PUC data becomes available
