Rhythm Energy Review 2026
Rhythm Energy launched in 2021 as a Houston-based green energy startup founded by industry veteran PJ Popovic, and has quickly established itself as a notable player in the Texas market. With a 4.8-star rating and an NPS of 78, customer sentiment runs strongly positive. The company’s regulatory track record is also solid, with 70 PUC complaints over the past year—well below the industry average of 120. However, their Billing Clarity Score of 54/100 suggests some customers find invoices difficult to interpret, an area worth monitoring.
RHYTHM ENERGY
Complete Provider Analysis
What sets Rhythm apart is their commitment to 100% renewable energy across all plans and a rare policy of offering renewing customers the same rates as new sign-ups—eliminating the common frustration of loyalty penalties. Their 2024 acquisition of Inspire Clean Energy signals ambitious national expansion. While tech-savvy consumers will appreciate their modern digital experience, prospective customers should review plan documents carefully given the lower billing clarity scores reported by some users.

Positive Experiences
“I had a really stressful situation with my service being disconnected, and Orvil was incredibly helpful. From the moment he got on the phone, he was calm, professional, and actually took the time to listen to my situation instead of just repeating policy. He was able to work with me and provide a solution that made a huge difference for my family. I truly appreciate his understanding, kindness, and willingness to help when I needed it most. Customer service like this is rare, and it did not go unnoticed.”
“I will save over 20% of my electricity cost by switching to Rhythm from OhmConnect. I did not have a confusing harangue of ‘offers’ and ‘tiers’ to contend with—my Rhythm plan was simple and fixed and I can focus on the important things like using less when possible and saving money at the same time. Use less, pay less, what a concept! And Marisol and Karen helped me get through the ID verification, which was way harder for me because I do not use cell service.”
“Rhythm has been the best energy provider by far and I have used many providers. I renewed this year in March and signed up for the shift plan and it truly has saved me money. I run my AC at 65 every day and my projected bill is at $106. Finally an energy provider I trust and will stay with.”
“Signed up and got my power turned on within 15 minutes, for $0 down. Chose a flexible plan that has rates under $6 for the non-peak hours, and even the on-peak rates are lower than any of the companies I compared to. I’m very happy with their services.”
“It was time for my contract renewal with Rhythm. I was with Entrust Energy prior to Rhythm acquiring them and I have had some of the best customer service. I would recommend Rhythm if you’re searching for a reputable utility provider. Thanks again Orville for your help in finding me the best plan for a guy on a fixed income.”
Critical Feedback
“Unfortunate move-out process. If you don’t cancel your account before your contract ends, you will be transitioned into a month-to-month plan that has a flat rate which is literally the same amount as your bill. However, the issue is that no warning emails are sent out—only ‘Don’t delay, renew your electricity plan now.’ Not once did I get a notice saying my account would be ‘month to month’ or ‘cancel your account before we charge you.’ So for just a week of service, I was charged significantly more than expected.”
“Save yourself the headache and use a different provider. As a new customer, I spent days in a loop of providing the same documents (lease and attestation) over and over. Their staff doesn’t keep account notes, so you’ll have to re-explain your situation every time you call. Despite my landlord personally verifying my move-in and being promised service by Friday, they still failed to act. It took a formal escalation just to get the bare minimum done.”
“This feels like bait and switch. The rate quoted is not the rate I got. I should have stayed with TXU.”

Our Methodology
How We Calculate NPS Scores
Our proprietary scoring system analyzes thousands of customer reviews to provide an unbiased assessment of each electricity provider.
- Data Source: Online Reviews from verified customers
- AI Analysis: We analyze each review to distill sentiment and filter out incentivized reviews, bot-generated content, and review bombing attempts
- True NPS Calculation: We calculate Net Promoter Score as (% Promoters) – (% Detractors), where Promoters rate 9-10 and Detractors rate 1-6
- Star Rating: NPS scores are mapped to a 3.0-5.0 star scale for intuitive comparison
About “Billing Clarity” Scores
This score measures how clearly a provider communicates billing to customers—not billing accuracy. Texas electricity providers have robust, audited billing systems that are highly accurate.
- What we measure: Clarity of bill statements, proactive notifications, explanation of credits and charges, time-of-use rate communication
- Why it matters: Customers often report confusion about bills even when charges are correct—this score reflects how well providers help customers understand their bills
- PUC “billing complaints”: Most are about confusing statements or unexpected (but legitimate) charges, not actual billing errors
Pricing Data Collection
We collect electricity plan pricing directly from official sources to ensure accuracy.
- Data Source: ComparePower, the original Texas electricity consumer advocate
- Update Frequency: Prices are synced daily from all 5 TDSP territories
- Usage Levels: We display pricing at 500, 1000, and 2000 kWh/month to show how rates vary by consumption
- Coverage: All 17 retail electricity providers in the Texas deregulated market
PUC Complaint Data
Complaint data provides insight into provider accountability and customer issues.
- Data Source: Texas Public Utility Commission (PUC) official complaint records
- History: 46+ months of historical complaint data (January 2022 – Present)
- Categories: Billing, Slamming/Cramming, Quality of Service, Disconnection, and Other
- Update Frequency: Monthly updates as new PUC data becomes available
