Garbage & Recycling

The City of Abilene Solid Waste Services Division is the sole authorized trash collection provider within city limits. Refuse service is included with water service and billed on your Municipal Services Statement. Collection days vary by address—use the City’s Collection Services Map to find your pickup day. Bins must be curbside by 6:00 AM on collection day. No pickup occurs on New Year’s Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. Drop-off recycling is available at the Environmental Recycling Center and Neighborhood Recycling Centers. For large appliance pickup, call 325-676-6053 to schedule.

Apply online at abilenetx.gov/893/Apply-for-Service, call 325-676-6405, email [email protected], or visit the Customer Service Center in person. Allow at least 2 business days for service to begin. Online and email applicants receive confirmation when service will start.

You'll need valid identification, as the last 4 digits of your ID number are required for account verification. If transferring service, have your move-out address and disconnect date, move-in address and start date, and mailing address if different from service address.

The City of Abilene charges a $50 service fee that is added to the first bill at your new address. This fee applies to new service activations rather than being collected upfront as a traditional deposit.
