Sewage Service

Wastewater and sewer service is provided by the City of Edinburg Utilities Department and is bundled with your water service on the same monthly bill. The department manages wastewater collection and treatment programs throughout the city. For sewer-related complaints or odor issues, call 956-292-2045. For sewer back-ups, contact 956-292-2109.

Garbage & Recycling

Garbage collection is handled by the City of Edinburg Department of Sanitation and is included with city water service on your monthly bill. Residential pickup occurs once weekly, Monday through Friday, beginning at 7 a.m. After establishing your water account, visit the Solid Waste Management office at 8601 N. Jasman Road to set up garbage service and receive your wheeled cart. Voluntary curbside recycling is available bi-weekly on Wednesdays. Contact the Sanitation Department at 956-381-5635 for questions.

You'll need a government-issued photo ID, a lease agreement or proof of property ownership, your Social Security number or ITIN, and payment for the required deposit. Residential deposits are typically $100 for standard 5/8" or 3/4" meters.

Service typically takes 1–3 business days after your application is approved. Water connections are scheduled between 9 a.m.–5 p.m. in one-hour increments or between 5 p.m.–7 p.m. Someone must be present at the property during the connection.
