Water service for Fort Hood area residents living off-post is provided by the City of Killeen Utility Collections. The city purchases treated water from Bell County Water Control & Improvement District #1, which supplies water to the greater Fort Cavazos region. For on-post housing at Fort Cavazos, utilities including water are included with rent through Cavalry Family Housing (254-220-4799). Deposit: $90.00 residential deposit required. A $25.00 processing fee is charged to the first bill. Deposit remains on file for minimum 24 months; after 24 months with no late payments, deposit is credited to the account. Good Credit Waiver available if you had 12 months of service with City of Killeen with no late payments.

Sewage Service

Sewer service is bundled with water service through City of Killeen Utility Collections. The Water and Sewer Department manages operations and maintenance of water and sewer utilities, water storage and transmission facilities, and sanitary sewer collection facilities. There is no separate signup required—sewer service activates automatically when you establish water service.

Garbage & Recycling

Off-post residents receive trash collection through City of Killeen Solid Waste (254-501-7785). Schedules vary by neighborhood, and recycling services are available. On-post residents at Fort Cavazos receive weekly trash collection and bi-weekly recycling through Cavalry Family Housing and Inland Services (254-532-2256). The Fort Cavazos Recycle Center on 72nd Street and Railhead Drive accepts cardboard, plastics #1-2, metal cans, and paper.

You'll need a picture ID (driver's license, military ID, passport, or alien registration card), proof of Social Security number (SSN card, W2, paycheck with full SSN, or tax return), and a lease or deed to the property.

The residential deposit is $90.00, plus a $25.00 processing fee on your first bill. After 24 months with no late payments, the deposit is credited to your account. A Good Credit Waiver is available with 12 months of on-time payment history with Killeen.

Submit a Residential Service Request to the Utility Collections office at 210 W Avenue C by 12:00 PM for same-day service. Requests can be made in person or by email. After-hours activation is available for an additional fee.
