Rhythm Energy Review 2026
Rhythm Energy launched in 2021 as a Houston-based startup focused exclusively on renewable energy plans, quickly becoming one of Texas’s largest independent green energy providers. Customer sentiment data reflects strong satisfaction, with a 4.8-star rating and an NPS of 78, indicating most customers would recommend the service. The company’s regulatory track record is also solid, with 64 PUC complaints over the past 12 months—below the industry average of 120. However, the Billing Clarity Score of 53/100 suggests some customers find their bills confusing, an area worth monitoring.

Positive Experiences
“I have loved working with Rhythm Energy. The customer service is so great which is not common with companies, they have been very accommodating. Raul helped me renew today and made the process so easy, he was so great. I was also helped by another man but sadly can’t remember his name but kudos to him too. I also love the usage reports they send and the app/website is great as well and very user friendly.”
“Customer service was great, they even connected my electricity the day I bought my house after 5pm! Grateful for this, due to my seller disconnecting their utilities and I had no power! I called Rhythm, they let me know they’d place a ticket in ASAP with services expected to be restored early morning the next day… well about an hour after my call I had power! Thank you, glad I made the switch!”
“I had an issue and George and the supervisor Sam went above and beyond to help me out and resolve my issue so my family would be able to continue to have power when we moved. Thank you so much y’all! Great customer service!”
“Best energy provider in entire Texas. I got an issue where I needed to change my unit to a different location within a week of starting the service. Customer support did the transfer in 5 minutes. I am very grateful for the service provided by Rhythm and strongly recommend them for someone who is shopping for new electricity plans in Texas.”
“Pretty good – an agent called me from my leasing office to help me set up. They explained everything in detail and even told me about another company I could get that was less expensive. I chose Rhythm and I’m thankful.”
Critical Feedback
“Be careful on selecting the average billing. Part of this would be on me, but they are not clear on how they settle it when they offer it to you. What happens is they keep a running balance, so if you sign up for a long term contract you get this huge balloon payment at the end based off of your use, but at the rate of what they would be charging you. I thought I was liking Rhythm until I had to switch because their offer for power was not that great.”
“Another review mentioned them failing to change their payment method and they did the same with me and now they’re charging me. How do you go from charging my current card to charging an old one? Doesn’t make sense. All the good reviews are from people barely signing up. But wait until you have an actual problem with your account. They will leave you hanging and they promise they’ll call back, but don’t.”
“It was a great service while we used it but I cancelled a week ago over the phone. The service is continuing even though I have called twice and I am paying for someone else’s electric bill. Their website also states that customer service is available 7 days a week and that is not true – you cannot reach them on the weekend.”

Our Methodology
How We Calculate NPS Scores
Our proprietary scoring system analyzes thousands of customer reviews to provide an unbiased assessment of each electricity provider.
- Data Source: Online Reviews from verified customers
- AI Analysis: We analyze each review to distill sentiment and filter out incentivized reviews, bot-generated content, and review bombing attempts
- True NPS Calculation: We calculate Net Promoter Score as (% Promoters) – (% Detractors), where Promoters rate 9-10 and Detractors rate 1-6
- Star Rating: NPS scores are mapped to a 3.0-5.0 star scale for intuitive comparison
About “Billing Clarity” Scores
This score measures how clearly a provider communicates billing to customers—not billing accuracy. Texas electricity providers have robust, audited billing systems that are highly accurate.
- What we measure: Clarity of bill statements, proactive notifications, explanation of credits and charges, time-of-use rate communication
- Why it matters: Customers often report confusion about bills even when charges are correct—this score reflects how well providers help customers understand their bills
- PUC “billing complaints”: Most are about confusing statements or unexpected (but legitimate) charges, not actual billing errors
Pricing Data Collection
We collect electricity plan pricing directly from official sources to ensure accuracy.
- Data Source: ComparePower, the original Texas electricity consumer advocate
- Update Frequency: Prices are synced daily from all 5 TDSP territories
- Usage Levels: We display pricing at 500, 1000, and 2000 kWh/month to show how rates vary by consumption
- Coverage: All 17 retail electricity providers in the Texas deregulated market
PUC Complaint Data
Complaint data provides insight into provider accountability and customer issues.
- Data Source: Texas Public Utility Commission (PUC) official complaint records
- History: 46+ months of historical complaint data (January 2022 – Present)
- Categories: Billing, Slamming/Cramming, Quality of Service, Disconnection, and Other
- Update Frequency: Monthly updates as new PUC data becomes available
